How JogPost went from Dragon's Den to becoming the UK's number one leaflet distribution company.
JogPost was founded in 2010 by JJ Harding and Henry Buckley. Having worked in sales, they had seen that there was a gap in the market for a leaflet distribution company which took a better, more innovative approach.
Many leaflet companies were (and still are) unreliable, with leaflets delivered late or not at all. Their distributors are poorly paid and rarely supervised. They don’t look or sound professional (many don’t speak English either). Most can only deliver very limited numbers of leaflets or flyers in any one day.
JogPost has changed all that.
Our distributors are properly paid and motivated. They look professional and all speak English, so they can promote your product or service as well.
They’re well managed too, by our full-time supervisors (something else that few other companies offer). In fact you’re welcome to take part in our innovative Ride Along™ service and watch our distributors at work, or even join them (if you can keep up!).
We can deliver up to 30,000 leaflets in a day. Give us seven days’ notice and you could make that 250,000 in one day.
But even from our earliest days, people have recognised that we do things differently and know that we put our customers’ needs above short-term profits.
In 2011, shortly after starting the company, JJ and Henry went on BBC’s Dragons’ Den.
Four Dragons – Duncan Bannatyne, Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones and Hilary Davey – offered to invest in the business (an exceptionally high success rate in itself). Deborah Meaden said that “The pitch delivered by JJ and Henry from JogPost is one of the most impressive pitches I have ever seen in the Den.”
As it turned out, we were able to achieve the necessary growth without investment from any of the Dragons, but we were certainly grateful for the experience. You can see our appearance on the show on our Videos Page
Today, JJ Harding and Henry Buckley both still run the business, which continues to go from strength to strength.
In 2013, we won the Olympic Team Medal at the National Courier Awards for our work on the 2012 London Olympics.
From employing 200 distributors in 2011, the year after we started, we’ve expanded greatly. As of 2015, we have over 50 office staff and supervisors, plus over 1,000 distributors, and can call on many more if required.
We have many long-standing customers who trust us time and time again to deliver. Big names like Pizza Hut, Virgin Active, Transport for London, Papa John’s and the NHS. Plus many hundreds of small businesses and entrepreneurs who know that we offer a much better service – with over 680 reviews on FreeIndex to date, averaging 4.8 stars out of 5, we’re ranked number one out of over 680 leaflet distribution companies in the UK.
Much of our business in in London or within the M25, but increasingly we’re being asked to work further afield. One client even flew a team of distributors up to Scotland for a job.
